Tristan Bancks is a storyteller. His creativity and imagination traverse through movie screens and pages of several books that he has written. Tristan is an actor, filmmaker, and an author of several books for children and teens.

His short film for SBS and Film Australia, Change The World in 5 Minutes Every Day at School, showcases “young kids taking positive actions to change the world as they spend the first five minutes every day at school doing something good for the community and the planet”. The film has inspired viewers, kids, groups, and classes to take action, and has garnered more than 100,000 views on Youtube. The film has been screened widely at events in Australia, United Kingdom, and the United States. The  source of inspiration for this film came from the book Change the World for Ten Bucks.

Tristan’s passion and talent to tell creative, meaningful stories inspire others. His work keeps him actively involved with various schools where he conducts film tours and sessions that inspire “small, doable, world-changing ideas”, as well as teaching students on “how they can create their own world-changing films”.

Tristan’s short films have won him awards and recognition in festival screenings and on television. He has written several books for young people including the brand new Galactic Adventures, First Kids in Space (UQP, July 2011) and My Life and Other Stuff I Made Up (Random House, July 2011).

     

Tristan is an ambassador for charity organizations, Camp Quality and Room to Read.

Tristan continues to inspire others especially young kids through his writing, film creations, speaking sessions and presentations. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New England.

Tristan’s stories are making a difference. His own life story is worth telling as an advocate for change and a warm-hearted fellow who brings creativity for a good cause.
