The ELF is a fun and efficient personal electric vehicle powered by you and the sun.

Durham, North Carolina, USA. Rob Cotter, Founder and CEO of Organic Transit, rolled out the Elf campaign on Kickstarter. Rob and his dedicated crew venture to build prototypes of solar/pedal hybrid vehicle designed for local errands, commuting and deliveries. This genius invention is locally manufactured, created in a former furniture warehouse in Downtown Durham, North Carolina. 

Elf stands for “easy, light, and fun.” It has a simple, futuristic design, and fully equipped with lights, signals, mirrors. The roof top solar panels or a standard outlet can be used to charge the lithium battery pack. The Elf is capable of holding up to 350 lbs. Another model, the Truckit has a capacity of up to 800 lbs. Elf showcases the following performance features:

  • 1800 MPGe (gets 1800 miles for the energy equivalent of 1 gallon of gas)
  • 30 mile range with each 8 pound battery pack
  • Potential to mitigate 28,000 lbs of CO2 per year per unit
  • Classified as a bicycle in all 50 states
